Chemical storage

The storage of classified chemicals is currently regulated by RD 656/2017. This Royal Decree, like most regulations, aims to improve safety in facilities that store hazardous products.

Currently, the APQ regulation consists of 10 complementary technical instructions that define the minimum safety measures, depending on the classification of the product and the type of storage:

  • APQ-1 "Storage of flammable and combustible liquids in fixed containers".
  • APQ-2 "Storage of ethylene oxide in fixed containers".
  • APO-3 "Chlorine storage".
  • APQ-4 "Storage of anhydrous ammonia".
  • APQ-5 "Storage of gases in mobile pressure vessels".

APQ-6 "Storage of corrosive liquids in fixed containers".
APQ-7 "Storage of toxic liquids in fixed containers".
APQ-8 "Storage of ammonium nitrate-based fertilizers with high nitrogen content".
APQ-9 "Storage of organic peroxides and self-reactive materials".
APQ-10 "Storage in mobile containers".

In-depth knowledge of the regulations in force and knowing how to interpret them correctly is the best guarantee to ensure a correct application at the lowest possible cost.
